From early July, if you use a personal device e.g., phone or laptop to connect to the university WiFi you will only be able to access the internet. You will not be able to access any internal services such as the H: or P: drives or printing. This change is part of our ongoing security improvements to protect our data and yours.Â
What does this mean for me?
When on campus using a personal device, you will only be able to access the internet. To gain access to internal services such as the H: or P: drives or printing, you will need use an on-campus computer, like the ones available in the library, or Horizon virtual desktop.
So – in a nutshell – if you are using a personal device on campus, your access to Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó services will now be the same as it is when you use your personal device at home using your home WiFi. You will still have access to cloud-based apps such as Teams, Office365 and AppsAnywhere (although some apps in AppsAnywhere can only be used on site).Â
For most of you this change will not affect the way you study or communicate using your personal device whilst on campus.Â
