We are pleased to release our on our Climate and Ecological Crisis Action Plan (CECAP) for the academic year 2021/22. This comprehensive document outlines our commitment to combatting climate change and protecting and preserving a sustainable environment. The report sheds light on our collective efforts, achievements, and future endeavours in addressing the pressing challenges facing our planet.
One of the key pillars of our CECAP report revolves around reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. We have set ambitious targets and are proud to report significant progress in this area. Over the past year, we have successfully reduced our overall emissions by 36%Â compared to 2018/19 base year, thanks to a combination of sustainable energy initiatives, reduced business travel emissions, and behavioural changes encouraged among our staff and students.Â
We have taken great strides in integrating sustainability into our curriculum through embedding the Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the Climate and Ecological Crisis (CEC) in our taught programmes. We are making progress towards our goal that every student has the opportunity to explore sustainability issues relevant to their course and becomes an agent of positive change.
The report also presents a clear vision for the future. We have outlined a comprehensive set of objectives for the upcoming year, each designed to accelerate our progress and build on our accomplishments. We will continue to invest in renewable energy sources, promote sustainable transportation options, and expand our network of partnerships with local communities and organisations, amplifying the impact of our initiatives.
The release of this report reaffirms our commitment to transparency and accountability. By sharing our progress, challenges, and aspirations, we foster an environment of trust and collaboration. It empowers everyone here at Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó to actively engage with our sustainability efforts and contribute their unique perspectives to the ongoing journey towards a greener future.
