Health Education England (HEE) is encouraging all health and care students and learners and those starting programmes in September 2021, to ensure they have had both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine unless they are medically exempt.
By virtue of your age you will have been invited to access your Covid-19 vaccination. This will increase protection against the effects of coronavirus for you, healthcare professionals you work with and people you will care for, as well as reflecting government policy for the wider population.
Some placement providers require endorsement of your engagement with the Covid-19 vaccination as a condition of placement there. If you cannot provide this endorsement then your placement cannot take place in that area. This reduces the placement opportunities available to you and may cause a delay in your placement activity and completion of course requirements.
If you have not already commenced your vaccination course you can do so by booking via the national system:
While you may be eligible for a booster of the Covid-19 vaccination as a result of your age / a health condition, you are also likely to be considered eligible by virtue of your status as a healthcare student from September 2021. We will provide details on these arrangements once they are available.
