If you are on campus and looking for somewhere to work or a PC to use, here is a quick guide of what you need to do.
Book your study space or PC
To help you study safely and keep a safe distance from others, please book your study space or computer before using it.
Bookable spaces in the libraries
You can reserve all bookable spaces in the libraries via .
You will be able to book spaces for up to four hours a day in the libraries, some of which will include a computer. This also includes the technobooths in the Sir Michael Cobham Library on Talbot Campus, which will be available as study spaces only without IT facilities for the time being. We are working on expanding the number of study spaces across both libraries over the coming weeks.
Bookable computers in the open access centres
You can book a computer in the open access centres via . The open access centres are both open 24/7, but you will need to book your space whatever time you want to use them. You will be able to book these computers up to seven days in advance to allow you to plan your studies.
Other computers
There is a very limited number of bookable computers in the Executive Business Centre (EBC), which can be booked via .
Most on-campus computers are being used for remote access for timetabled teaching, so there are only a limited number of computers available on campus at this time. Please do not use any computer that has no mouse or keyboard, as these have been removed in support of our physical distancing measures on campus and the computers are being used as part of the remote access solution.
Booking rooms on campus
There are a number of rooms available for you to book on both Lansdowne and Talbot campuses as spaces for small group work. Please respect the stated room capacity and adhere to physical distancing measures while using these. You will need to complete the usual room booking process via or by scanning the QR code on the door. You will need to book the room in advance before coming on to campus. If you need to book a room at short notice, please call the team on 0808 196 2332 and press 2 for Estates. Please do not use a room without booking it first. This will ensure we know who was using the facility for test and trace purposes.
Other spaces
There are other rooms and spaces on campus where you can work, such as the Fusion Building, the Student Centre and the technobooths in other areas, and which you don’t need to book. However, please make sure you use these responsibly and remember the physical distancing measures to help keep us all safe across our campuses.
If you have your own IT device which you are using on campus or at home, you can find out more about the IT support and resources available to you on our IT hub web page.
Our laptop loan system will be up and running from 5 October across both Lansdowne and Talbot campuses.
