A statement in response toÌýthe death in America of George Floyd, from Professor John Vinney andÌýUCU, UNISON and SUÖ÷²¥ÓÕ»ó asÌýthe representatives of Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó students and staff.
Ìý
As staff and students of Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó, we join in the grief and outrage of black people who are subjected to racism, harassment and violence.
Ìý
We join in the worldwide demands for accountability and justice when our neighbours are harmed and in pain.
Ìý
We want our staff, students and the wider community to know that we are deeply committed to social justice and are working towards becoming a more inclusive university.
Ìý
We will be updating you all on the work that we are doing to achieve this aim.
Ìý
In the meantime, we express our solidarity with all those in our local communities, our country and overseas who have been, and continue to be subject to prejudice.
