A report analysing the 2019 General Election, that features 85 contributions from over 100 leading UK and international academics, has been published by Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s new Centre for Comparative Politics and Media Research.
Published 10 days after the election, captures immediate thoughts, reflections and early research insights on the 2019 UK General Election from the cutting edge of media and politics research.
The report is the first publication from the new research centre and is edited by Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó's Associate Professor Dan Jackson, Professor Einar Thorsen, Professor Darren Lilleker and Dr Nathalie Weidhase.
The short and accessible publication contains authoritative analysis of the campaign with each author including research findings or new theoretical insights. Contributions also bring a rich range of disciplinary influences, from political science to cultural studies, journalism studies to geography.
The report is broken down into eight sections covering subjects such as political discourse, the role of misinformation, the divide between older and younger voters and the interplay between politics and popular culture.
This is the fifth election report published by Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó within 10 days of the outcome of an election. Previous reports have covered the 2015 and 2017 UK General Elections, the 2016 US Election and the 2016 EU Referendum.
