To reflect the importance of young voters in the General Election, Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó is hosting a series of special events designed to give them a platform to raise issues pertinent to them.
Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s Journalism department is collaborating with a dozen other UK universities to unite young voices from across the country for this unique project. In total 200 Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó students have signed up to be involved in the project, joining hundreds of others across the country. The resulting journalism will be shared among all participating institutions to help ensure a truly national reach.
The first event will be a Question Time-style production programme called Our Time: Young voters reclaiming the debate - filmed in our Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó TV studios on Tuesday 10Â December from 5-6pm. We will be inviting candidates, sitting MPs and other relevant guests to answer guests from a student and staff audience. The questions will be chosen and themed to reflect important issues selected by the young people themselves. The event will be recorded and streamed on our university journalism platform Buzz News as well as student media, including Nerve Media.
On election day, we will be providing coverage of the election throughout the night of Thursday 12 December at Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó. We are sending students to key election counts in Southampton, Bournemouth, Dorset and further afield as well as collaborating with students at other UK universities throughout the night. We aim to provide exclusive content aimed at a young audience throughout the historic night across all our platforms – TV, radio, online and social media.
You can follow both events on  or by social media on Ìý²¹²Ô»åÌý.
