Every year a number of bicycles are abandoned across the campuses, taking up valuable bike parking spaces and attracting thieves.
From Monday 3 June, the Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó Estates team will be monitoring the cycle storage at Talbot and Lansdowne Campuses, including the Student Village, and identifying bikes they consider abandoned.
The will then be followed for any bikes considered abandoned after this date:Â
- bikes will be tagged for a minimum of 14 days in preparation for removal
- the tag on the bike will identify the reason it was tagged and advise the owner to move it as soon as possible
- bikes that have not been removed and are still tagged by Friday 28Â June 2019Â will be removed from the bike shelters and stored onsite for a minimum of 28 days
- any bikes which have not been claimed after this time will be donated to a local bike recycling charity.
Please note: the cycle parking facilities on campus are for daily use only and not for regular overnight or prolonged storage, and that bikes left in the shelters for prolonged periods are at risk of removal.
