Students and staff聽are invited to an inspirational lecture by Re拧ad Trbonja, a specialist in international policy related to hate crime and crime prevention, who works for Remembering Srebrenica.
Re拧ad鈥檚 lecture will take place at 1pm on Monday 26 November in FG04 where he will share his experiences and research exploring the impact of genocide and lived experience of survivors and the relationship with wider hate crime related behaviour.

Re拧ad Trbonja is an inspirational leader and powerful contributor to national and international policy related to hate crime and crime prevention. At the age of 19 he went from being an ordinary European teenager to a soldier overnight, having to defend Sarajevo during the longest siege in modern history.
He now works for Remembering Srebrenica in Bosnia, as the country coordinator. Before working for Remembering Srebrenica, Re拧ad worked for the UN and the EU in the field of security, law enforcement, and prosecution. He was appointed as Director to the Remembering Srebrenica Charity in 2013 and has been instrumental in driving international policy change regarding victims of conflict, understanding the impact of genocide, hate crime prevention and crime reduction.
Re拧ad has supported a number of prestigious events as keynote speaker in Bosnia Herzegovina and within the wider international community such as the UK and in other European countries.聽
In his specialist academic field of criminology Re拧ad has led the way in understanding the experience of victims and survivors affected by genocide. His collaborative approach has influenced and informed public awareness campaigns and activities to teach the consequences of hatred and the importance of integration and building stronger cohesive communities.
