The Fusion Festival is a celebration of research, education and professional practice with a series of events created and run by Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó's Events Management students.
This year, the festival will run between 3-7 April 2017, with around 20 events organised within the global theme of 'Around the World in an Event'.
Each event focusesÌýon a different aspect of the theme, andÌýaims to breakÌýdown barriers and createÌýa continuous and fruitful exchange of knowledge.Ìý
The students have organised events ranging from providing information and advice to games, activities and sharing food from around the world.Ìý
Here's a taster of what to expect:
Backpacking for Beginners -Ìý3 April, 14:30-16:30, Fusion Building, F201
An event designed to give attendees an insight into backpacking using fun interactive activities in order to engage attendees. The event will focus on two destinations, Australia and Asia.Ìý.
Hawaiian Paradise -Ìý3 AprilÌý16:00-18:00, Fusion Building, F104
Escape, from university life for a few hours to experience a taste of Hawaii. Take part in Limbo & Hula-Hoop competitions, games of Coconut-roll or just sit back and relax with a mocktail and enjoy the music.Ìý.
Fuse-Asia - 4 AprilÌý11:30-13:30, Student Centre, ground floorÌý
An interactive cultural session creating an experience with Asian based food tasting, cultural fun activities, a chance to get henna done, and prizes to be won. .
Micheal O'Regan, Senior Academic in Events & Leisure Manangement at Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó outlined how:Ìý"By working with staff, charities, organisations, institutions, and businesses, the students orgnaising these events are developing and co-creatingÌýevents and activities that represent themselves, the Department of Events & Leisure as well as Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó".Ìý
