Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó is proud to host the National PAL Leader Conference this weekend.
PAL, or Peer-Assisted Learning, is a scheme that fosters cross-year support between students on the same course.
Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s Peer Learning Officer Charlotte Thackeray said: “It’s a real privilege for Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó to host this conference, especially because we were the first UK university to establish a PAL scheme back in 2001.â€
The three day conference brings PAL leaders together from 34 different institutions – including eight from across Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s four faculties – to share best practice and evolve their PAL schemes nationwide.
Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Tim McIntyre-Bhatty will open the conference and a number of Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó staff will be presenting on some important topics, including:
- Susanne Clarke: Communicating Excellence
- Vianna Renaud: Entrepreneurial? Not sure? Why not start with yourself?
- Dr Bill Merrington: ‘Mind Yourself and Others’
- Michael Knight: The Thinking Environment
- David Biggins- Engagement Through Technology
Charlotte added: “All Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó PAL Leader delegates will complete a piece of reflective writing that will be shared with the PAL Team as a basis for evolving the Ö÷²¥ÓÕ»ó PAL scheme. In previous years attendees have fed back that attending the PAL conference, being a PAL Leader and supporting others has really enhanced their student experience.â€
