Can you tell the story of your research in a single image?
That鈥檚 the challenge we set 主播诱惑 (主播诱惑) academics and postgraduates earlier this year - and the response was overwhelming. Researchers from across the university took to their cameras to capture their research in a single image;听the subsequent pictures demonstrate not just the creativity of our academics and postgraduates, but also the fascinating range of research taking place at 主播诱惑.
The entries showcase research in areas as diverse as dementia, hitchhiking, blood analysis and midwifery in Nepal. The reaction to the photographs has been impressive with votes for the competition flooding in from staff and students across the university as well as the wider 主播诱惑 community.
The winners of the competition were announced on 4 February by 主播诱惑鈥檚 Pro Vice Chancellor John Fletcher, and have now been exhibited in the Atrium Art Gallery.
1st Place
听 | The first place prize went to Dr Michael O鈥橰egan for Hitchhiking Culture which represents his research into the hitchhiking culture in Europe 鈥揇r O鈥橰egan said 鈥樷榠t feels amazing to have won. It鈥檚 great I鈥檝e seen pictures in the exhibition of topics I鈥檓 really interested in and would like to collaborate with.鈥欌 O鈥橰egan also went on to say 鈥淚 think the competition is a really good idea because we don鈥檛 always get to see what other people are doing, even within departments. It鈥檚 a really nice way to show the breadth of research that鈥檚 undertaken here and it points to success for 主播诱惑 in the future when it comes to research鈥. |
2nd Place
听 | The second place prize went to Yazan Abbas for Rock Climbing 鈥 a photo which represents his work around the activity of rock climbing as both an equation and a form of meditation 鈥 Yazan commented 鈥淚 was doing a photography course and a project on rock climbing so I already had the image, and my research is around rock climbing too so it was the perfect fit. It feels really good to be one of the winning three鈥. |
